US Primaries - teaching material (high school level)
This teaching material contains ideas as to how you can structure a class on the US Primaries (English or Social Studies).
It includes internet-links and a brief description of how you can organise a group work.

1. The teacher explains the nature of the primaries and the US election.
2. Group work – 20 minutes
Each group prepares a 2-3 minute presentation of one of the candidates:
Democrats: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Bill RIchardson
Republicans: John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Mick Huckabee
The presentation should include:
A summary of the candidate’s personal history. Use their campaign websites as starting point! WMUR New Hampshire, http://www.wmur.com/politics/index.html, top centre, shows a list of all the major candidates, complete with pictures and links.Compare your candidate to one of the candidates from the other side, using http://www.wmur.com/compare-candidates/index.html. Focus on the following issues:

Which candidate appears to be best qualified for the job as president of the United States? Who would you choose, and why?
